Pentecost is (the second of the three great Jewish feasts, celebrated at Jerusalem yearly), the 50th day. We read of the events at Pentecost in ACTS 2, we see in full glory the works of the Holy Ghost as the Spirit uses the Apostle Peter to add to the Church ” Acts 2:41 – “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”. We at St. Simon Baptist Church (SSBC), believe that on the day of Pentecost the physical church was established, as the Scripture states in Acts 2:46-47, ” And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” We at SSBC believes and desires that all Christian Churches should celebrate the day of Pentecost and come together and be on one accord, worshiping and baptizing in remembrance of the work of the Holy Ghost on that special day. At our annual Pentecost Worship Service we’re joined by as many of the area Churches that would like to join us. We have a combined worship service, river baptisms and a feast. So in closing, if you are a Jacksonville/Orange Park or in the surrounding area please contact us and inquire about joining us this year. May the Lord of Peace richly bless you, in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, amen.
